- Watch what you drink. Sodas are the most obvious examples of drinks that are loaded with sugar, but they’re not the only offenders. Juices, even ones that are made with 100% fruit juice, can pack a lot of sugar, and specialty coffee drinks can have as much sugar as a milkshake! Stick with water and your favorite Yoli drinks, which are sweetened with stevia rather than sugar.
- Read nutritional panels. Even foods that are marketed as healthy can be packed with sugar, so make sure you check the label so you know what you’re eating. You’ll be surprised to find that even foods such as pasta sauces, salad dressings, and bread often have a lot of sugar.
- Look out for fat-free versions of food. When food manufacturers remove the fat, they often replace it with sugar. Again, make sure you carefully read the nutritional facts before you make a purchase!
- Reserve sweet treats for special occasions. Moderation is key when it comes to your physical and emotional health. If it’s your birthday, it’s okay to have a slice of cake. You just don’t want to make it a daily indulgence! Save those sweet treats for special occasions, and you’ll find it much easier to manage your sugar intake.
