It’s week 2 of Get Slim for Summer, and if you’re working to transform your life with us, we want you to get the most out of your efforts. Here are some tips to help you maximize your transformation!
1. Follow the meal plan.
This tip may seem obvious, but following the meal plan is the best way to maximize your transformation. In an attempt to get to their goal weight, many people find themselves tempted to “speed the process along” by skipping their Meal Days in favor of more Protein Days. Don’t do this! Your body needs the nutrients that you get on Meal Days. Remember, transforming your life physically isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about giving your body what it needs so you can look and feel your very best!
2. Keep things simple.
Trying to change too much too fast can be overwhelming and can make it more difficult to stay on track long-term. For example, if you don’t cook very often, trying to master complicated recipes all at once might not be the best idea. Instead, focus on making every healthy choice as easy as possible. Choose easy, healthy recipes that you’ll feel confident about making. Then, once you’ve mastered those, you can move on to more difficult ones!
While your diet will be the biggest part of your transformation, exercise can also make a difference. In addition to burning calories, exercise helps increase your lean muscle tissue, which in turn helps boost your metabolism. As you work to transform your life, we recommend building up to working out 30-45 minutes three to five times each week. If you’re using the Transformation Kit, you’ll probably find it easier to exercise on Meal Days, as the carbohydrates will help fuel your workouts!
4. Get enough sleep.
Sleep may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about weight loss, but it’s actually a key part of your physical transformation! Research, which can be found here and here, has shown a correlation between a lack of adequate sleep and weight gain. Another study suggests that insufficient sleep leads your body to make more ghrelin, a hormone that signals your brain that it’s time to eat, and suppresses the amount of leptin, which signals your brain that you’re full. That can make it much more difficult to reach and maintain a healthy weight.
That’s one of the many reasons we recommend getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night to feel your best. If that doesn’t come easily for you, try using Dream!
