At Yoli, there’s nothing we love more than a good transformation story, and we’re excited to share a great one with you today!
If you follow us on Facebook, you may recognize Brenda from the before and after photo we shared a couple of weeks ago. We reached out to Brenda to learn more about her story, and she was kind enough to answer some questions. This is what she had to say about her incredible transformation!
When did you start with Yoli?
I first started with the products in February of 2015. However, life happened and I fell off a few times. I didn’t really “stick” with the full transformation program until January of 2016.
I had been seeing some Facebook posts from my health teacher from high school (you know her as Michelle Bibens). She had also been my volleyball coach and a mentor, so I had always looked up to her. She had an amazing physical and emotional transformation, so I was intrigued. I had tried many other programs and “diets” with limited success. I did some research on Yoli, liked what I found, and reached out to her to begin! When I first began, it was all about losing weight for me.
What is your favorite thing to eat on Protein Day? What about Meal Day?
My favorite thing on Protein Day is EGGS. I love them in all forms. But one of my more creative ways to eat them is to scramble a few in a bowl, pour them into a well-preheated skillet, and then flip them like a pancake. I then use this pancake/tortilla type egg to make a “wrap”-type sandwich with ham, Swiss cheese, and a little mustard. (I also use this egg-pancake as a base for pizza sauce/toppings on meal days.)
My favorite Meal Day snack is fruit of all types. I especially love to put blueberries in some Oikos triple zero yogurt.
What’s your favorite Yoli product?
It’s so difficult to choose just one! I think the YES shakes are my favorite for two reasons. One, they don’t call them “happy shakes” for nothing. I love how GOOD I feel after drinking them. Two, they’re so versatile. Yes, you can use them in the plain shake form, but you can add ingredients to make them a smoothie or use the powder in other recipes like protein bars. Delicious!
What obstacles did you encounter on the BBS and how did you overcome them?
My biggest obstacle was feeling like I didn’t belong/didn’t have the will-power at social gatherings where there was junk food/adult beverages. It’s still something I struggle with a little bit. However, sharing Yoli and my testimony with many family members and friends, I know they understand why I’m doing it and don’t try to pressure me to join. At many events, they even make sure they have options that are friendly to my new lifestyle. Plus, a few of them have joined me on the Yoli journey and we keep each other strong!
What helped you be successful on the BBS?
My biggest success factor has been my support system. My sponsor, Michelle, has been my rock through everything. I never felt like I was burdening her with my excess of questions in the beginning, and she is consistently checking in with me and inviting me to events. Then you multiply that support by the rest of our team and I have always felt their genuine interest in my success. Plus I was upfront with my family, friends, and significant other about what and why I was doing the program, and they have encouraged me along the way. I’ve never seen anything bring strangers together the way this company does.
What advice would you give to someone starting out on the BBS?
Take advantage of your support system! Don’t skip the Customer Appreciation Parties or other local events because it’s out of your comfort zone. You will find support and motivation unlike anywhere else and make lasting friendships along the way.
Also, don’t be afraid to mix up your meals and try new things. It’s harder to make a lifestyle change when you’re bored with the lifestyle. And don’t get discouraged if you fall off the wagon now and again, it is a very forgiving system if you just keep coming back.
How has your life changed since you started your transformation?
Right before I started Yoli, I was in a very dark place both physically and emotionally. My self-esteem was non-existent and any sort of physical activity was exhausting.
Now? I have lost about 80 pounds, feel confident in my own skin, and wake up almost every day EXCITED to be alive and see how I can improve myself that day. My relationships with family, friends, and my significant other are stronger than ever because I am not too tired to leave the house. And this girl that used to dread having to walk up the stairs for class, has just finished a 4 week triathlon challenge (do a triathlon spread out over the course of 4 weeks)! I look back and can’t believe I almost gave up all of this joy and happiness.
Is there anything else you want Yoli Nation to know?
I think it is so cool and fitting that my current “after” picture was taken in the Bahamas while on the Yoli incentive cruise. That picture is the epitome of the new me: fit, happy, and surrounded by amazingly supportive friends. The cruise was amazing!
